Athens arty bus stops

A new bus stop shelter called "Beat A Drum" is assembled on Friday July 16, 2010 by Mike Doker, center, of Doker's Welding & Fabrication in Wintervile, Ga., with the help of Raymond Yager. Metal drums on the roof and real drums inside the structure will complement the project at its installation on Broad Street in Athens, Ga., next week. This is the last of four art designed bus stops scheduled to be installed in 2010, with four more on tap for 2011. A total of 12 bus stops are designed in a manner that alerts visitors to the art community in the Classic City. (David Tulis/Staff/david.tulis@onlineathens.com)
